V2 Cigs Fan of the Week: Ed's Story
Date Posted: August 25, 2011
I have been a fan and promoter of V2 Cigs since April of this year. I am 65 years old and proud to announce that after more than 53 years of 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day, I have quit smoking altogether.
A little history on that subject. I started by snagging my dad’s Lucky Strikes (Do they still sell them?). Then you got then from a vending machine for a quarter and there were two pennies inside the cellophane for your change. Yes, 23 cents a pack! I am sure some of the older smokers have sworn that if cigarettes got to 50 cents a pack it would be too much and they’d quit for sure. Then the limit was raised to a dollar a pack, and so on. I know it happens, I’ve seen me do it. The last carton I bought was $54.00.
I remember smoking in hospital beds, airplanes and anywhere else I darn well pleased. I worked outside on construction during my first career, so it was never restricted or controlled anywhere except when I worked in oil refineries. That made sense. Later, and since, I have worked in Health Care facilities all over the country. There, it was tolerated in designated smoking areas only. During the past few years, smoking on campus has become a reason for termination.
My whole world smelled like an ashtray, sometimes getting to the point where it really bothered me too. Trust me on this one, I have really tried and succeeded at quitting, then resuming the habit several times. I have sampled patches, wellbutrin, Chantix and several other boneheaded solutions to help. In some cases, the side effects from the medication, especially Chantix, were intolerable.
Over the years I developed a chronic cough. I’d wake up in the morning and choke my brains out for an hour or so just to clear out the scum from overnight. But I was one persistent dog until I began to realize how concerned my loved ones were about me. I was visiting my kids and grandkids in Mobile. It was kind of a surprise visit and I thought it would be fun. After about a week my daughter told me that my 15 year old granddaughter wanted to talk to me. As we sat on the front steps she told me that she was concerned about me coughing all the time. My defense mechanism kicked in and I started to make excuses–allergies, cold, etc. Then she started crying and said she was scared. That got my attention. Apparently, an aunt of hers who I’d never met had visited some years earlier. She was making the rounds of family and saying goodbye. She died a short time later with lung CA. I promised my granddaughter then and there that I would quit—-somehow.
Then I discovered V2. I started with the Ultimate kit, in Menthol of course, 18 mg. I have not had a cigarette since April 18th. My next order was for 12 mg, and my next will be 6mg. I feel that I haven’t given up a thing, except for the bad stuff. Great flavor, rich vapor, no hassles. Thank you V2 Cigs for a great product. By the way, your Customer Service ROCKS!!
