New Research Spotlights Electronic Cigarettes as Effective Alternative

Date Posted: October 22, 2012

Optimistic news for the electronic cigarette industry and e-cig users has been released in a credible medical journal. This month’s issue of Nicotine & Tobacco suggests that electronic cigarettes are “likely to result in a major advance in smoking cessation treatment and prevent considerable mortality and morbidity.” The medical experts in this article displaying their confidence towards the use of electronic cigarettes as an alternative to traditional smoking are Brent Caldwell, Dr. Walt Sumner and Julian Crane.

These medical professionals also point out in their review that traditional nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) products have low success rates when it comes to helping individuals quit smoking. Although most smokers may be familiar with NRT’s, like the patch or nicotine gum, millions of Americans claim to achieve better results with electronic cigarettes. Studies have shown that government-approved smoking cessation products and NRTs have a quit success rate of less than 10%. In contrast, similar studies which included electronic cigarettes as a quit-smoking option found that as much as 50% of subjects were able to quit completely or cut down their tobacco intake, considerably.

With more and more medical professionals becoming electronic cigarette advocates, we are enthusiastic about the positive effects that new research and accredited medical opinions will have on people crossing over to electronic cigarette usage.

It’s all about the money, not people’s health. Big tobacco companies and the government are losing money. The tobacco companies are losing consumers so the government is losing big dollars on the taxes they levy on tobacco products.

Amen to that. The FDA is looking to make money, even promoting their own alternatives. Is there no end to this crap? Ecigs have caused me to stop smoking cigarettes. Blood oxygen went from 94% to 99% in ONE MONTH. This is your government, people… Put a new one in next time.

Agree with you bobby. I’m also affected from electronic cigarettes. I can say, I’m tobacco free now. And it has made me wealthy physically as well as financially.
