shutterstock_126553262Cleanliness – we all know it’s important. Brush your teeth, take a shower, and don’t forget to wash behind your ears. It’s obvious that we need to keep ourselves clean. But, did you know that you should also clean your ecigarettes? As time passes and you continue to enjoy e-cigs, your electronic cigarette batteries will likely develop a bit of dust or sediment around and inside the threads. This is completely normal. Maintaining clean batteries will ensure top performance for the life of your battery.

For more details, check out this post on the V2 Forum, created by one of our loyal customers. We get so much great advice from our fans, and it deserves to be shared!

Read on for tips and instructions on cleaning your electronic cigarette batteries…

Cleaning Batteries

It’s important to periodically clean your batteries; once a week is ideal. The process is quite simple and straightforward. All you need are a few tools (you probably already have them!) and five-ten minutes.

What you’ll need:

1. Toothbrush (moisten with rubbing alcohol before you start cleaning)

2. Something pointy (needle, toothpick, dental flosser, etc.)

3. Rubbing alcohol or some type of disinfectant (the little alcohol wipes work wonders – find them in the first-aid section of your local drugstore)

4. Tissues or paper towels

How to do it:

e-cigs batteries clean1. With your pointy instrument, clean the outer part of the threads by dislodging any sediment blocking the air holes, and then scrape any extra gunk off – this is just to loosen everything up before brushing it away

2. Moisten the toothbrush with a bit of rubbing alcohol, and then brush off the outer part of the threads and air holes to remove any sediment

3. Loosen any sediment from the inner portion of the battery (between the center post and the threads) by gently scraping with your pointy instrument

brush battery4. Place the toothbrush on a flat surface, bristles facing up – then, place the threaded end of the battery on top of the bristles and gently rotate the battery in circles to wipe away the sediment from the inner parts

5. If there’s any gunk left in the threads of the battery, or on any of the metal part, re-moisten the toothbrush with a bit more alcohol, then give the threads and inner portion another gentle brush

***Be careful not to get any moisture inside the battery – this could render it useless.

Now, go enjoy your squeaky clean battery!

I use cotton swabs and alcohol to clean my batteries. An additional tip though is to clean your battery charger the same way. If you have residue on your battery when you screw it into the charger then it stands to reason that eventually your charger will become dirty also. Because I refill my own cartridges I clean them every couple of refills as well. I find this makes them last longer than the five refills recommended. In short, anything you can do to keep the electrical contact surfaces of the battery, charger or flavor cartridge clean will extend the life and efficiency of your products.

Thanks for the tip, I was wondering the best way to clean them. V-2 is a lot more helpful than the other sites and their customer are the best.
